Born and raised in England, Paul Hankin moved to St. Louis 7 years ago. Paul Hankin is a graduate of the prestigious "Leeds College of Music" in England.
Paul Hankin is an inspiring, motivated and committed teacher with 25 years piano teaching experience teaching piano lessons for both beginners and advanced students who is able to communicate a love and joy of music and the piano to his students. Piano styles taught in private piano lessons include Classical piano, Jazz piano, Popular Music, Music Theory, Harmony and Jazz Harmony. Piano lessons for children consist of a fun and friendly traditional approach to classical piano lessons and encourages composition, arranging and improvisation for more advanced students. Jazz piano lessons and popular music may also be studied. There are many advantages to taking a pedagogically correct course of study, especially as a beginner.
Courses of study available include the finest traditions of the European Schools of Music, including a curriculum developed by some of the best Music Schools in the world - The UK Royal Colleges of Music. These comprehensive courses of study are the result of over a hundred years of instrumental curriculum development by The Royal Northern College of Music, The Royal Academy of Music, The Royal College of Music and The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. This provides an international benchmark for musical achievement.
Paul Hankin studied the traditional Classical repertoire for piano extensively for over 10 years and passed the highest Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music graded piano examination at the age of 14 after just 6 years of lessons before studying with Bill Kinghorn, the UK's most widely respected Jazz piano teacher, at the UK's number one music school for Jazz and Contemporary Music. Bill Kinghorn was the Head of Piano Studies at Leeds College of Music and the adviser to the ABRSM for the implementation of their Jazz Piano Syllabus.
Paul Hankin gained a degree in Jazz and Contemporary Music, majoring in Jazz Piano Performance, from the City of Leeds Collage of Music in 1989, winning two separate college prizes for "Classical Piano" and "Electronic Music" at the same time.
Paul Hankin also worked as a professional pianist for many years and was the World Cruise Pianist for Holland America Cruise Lines. As a school teacher Paul Hankin was Head of Music at one of the most prestigious preparatory schools in England, Thorpe House School.
